Getting Started: Fall 2014

Welcome to the University of South Carolina! We look forward to seeing you on campus. If you haven’t already done so, check out the Getting Started pages, which highlight important steps you’ll need to take to register and get started as a graduate student at USC.

To Do List:

There are two things every person seeking to enroll in a class at the University of South Carolina must do before registering for classes:

1)      Proof of Immunizations (Submit to Thompson Student Health Center)

2)      Proof of Legal Residency (Submit to University Registrar)

Additional steps you may need to take before classes start (this may include parking, health insurance, housing, disability services, financial aid, and obtaining a Carolina Card) are listed in the Getting Started pages. You will also find instructions on how to activate your Self Service Carolina account so you can register for classes.

Welcome Events:

Orientations are traditionally hosted by academic departments or colleges and schools. Expect to hear from your home department about orientation times and dates.

New and returning students are invited to the 2014 Graduate Student Resource Fair on Friday, August 29, from 9 noon at the Hollings Library (enter through Thomas Cooper Library). The drop-in event will feature representatives from dozens of campus offices including Campus Wellness, Public Safety, Office of Research, Career Center, Preparing Future Faculty, Student Success Center and many others. Returning students will answer questions about graduate life at the University of South Carolina.

The University of South Carolina has a wealth of campus resources and professional development opportunities. We encourage you to foster an explorer spirit and take advantage of all our campus has to offer
