Nearly 150 graduate students from 43 different fields of study will compete at the 2013 Graduate Student Day, which will be held on campus this Friday, April 12. Hosted by The Graduate School and held in conjunction with Graduate Student Appreciation Week (April 8-12), the event is the University of South Carolina’s most comprehensive showcase of graduate scholarly and creative work.
Program highlights include morning competitions in four formats: oral research, poster, creative, and a new 3-minute speech category, an afternoon awards ceremony and an extended research demonstration led by graduate students on the Horseshoe.
USC faculty and staff from across campus serve as judges as students vie for prizes. Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony, which will take place from 1:30 to 2:30 pm. in the Russell House Ballroom. The ceremony will also feature the unveiling of university-wide fellowships and awards from The Graduate School, the Center for Teaching Excellence, and the Office of the Vice President for Research. New this year is The Graduate School’s Dean’s Awards for Excellence in Leadership and the Office of the Vice President for Research’s SPARC Awards.
