Outstanding Graduate Teaching Award

The Outstanding Graduate Teaching Award is given each year to two graduate instructors or instructional assistants on the basis of outstanding performances in teaching. One $1,000 award will be given to a teaching/instructional assistant in humanities, social sciences, education, or related professional programs. The other $1,000 award will be given to a teaching/instructional assistant in science, mathematics, or related professional programs. Nominations are made by individual graduate programs. Winners are announced at the Discover USC graduate student awards ceremony each April.

The Graduate School is pleased to announce the 2017 winners are:

Evelyn Chukwurah, Biological Sciences – PhD

Caroline Dunn, Health Promotion, Education and Behavior – PhD

 

Nominations

Nominations should be submitted via GMS and contain the following materials:

  • Nomination form, signed by the graduate director
  • Two page statement from the nominee providing a summary of their teaching activities and experiences, and addressing their teaching philosophy
  • Up to three letters from faculty and/or students supporting the nomination, and emphasizing the nominee’s teaching record
  • Summary of teaching evaluations compiled by a faculty mentor (not to exceed 2 pages)
  • Any additional relevant material (e.g. syllabi, course outlines, etc.) may be included in the packet
  • CV or Resume
