Campus Safety

Law Enforcement

The USC Division of Law Enforcement and Safety works to provide a safe and peaceful environment for all students, faculty, staff, and visitors at USC. Their offices are located at 1501 Senate Street. Reach a 24 hour dispatch at (803) 777-4215.

Emergency Call Boxes

Emergency call boxes are strategically placed around campus. They provide a direct line of communication with the USC Police and can be easily identified by their bright blue lights.

To operate, simply push the red button. You will immediately be connected with the USC Police dispatcher. Even if you are unable to communicate, the dispatcher will know your exact location. If you are being chased and cannot stop, press the call boxes as you pass and police officers will respond to the area.

The call boxes are for EMERGENCY USE ONLY! The following are examples of when the call boxes should be used: crimes in progress, fires, medical emergencies, or threats to personal safety.

Carolina Alert

University officials are continuously working to prevent and prepare for emergencies, and your participation is an important part of that effort. All students, faculty and staff should register to receive emergency text messages through Carolina Alert.

Women's Self-Defense Class

USC’s Student Health Services Sexual Assault and Violence Intervention & Prevention (SAVIP) has partnered with USC’s Division of Law Enforcement and Safety to offer Women’s Self Defense Workshops. These workshops are offered regularly during the fall and spring semesters.

Victim/Witness Assistant Program

Victim Services works closely with University services across campus to offer care, concern, and a quick response to those persons who have been victims and/or witnesses of a crime. Contact the Witness Coordinator at (803) 777-7786.

Stand Up Carolina

Sexual Assault and Violence Intervention & Prevention supports survivors of sexual assault, hate crimes and interpersonal violence. Among the services they offer are medical accompaniment, legal advocacy, and 24 hour on-call assistance. They are located on the 1st floor of the Thomson Student Health Center. Contact them at (803)777-3175.
