A Final Four Message to the FAMS

April 1, 2022

Dear Gamecock Community,

What an amazing ride we have all been on with our Women’s Basketball Team! I have enough memories to last a lifetime, as we went from the first day of the season to the last ranked #1. I’ve got my Carolina rally towel ready for the Final Four games, and I know that all of you are just as excited as I am to see us compete for another national championship.

When Dawn Staley calls us “FAMS,” that’s not just a cute thing to say. She really believes that we, The Remarkable We, are an integral part of the team. So, let’s all prepare to “play” this weekend. Some of us will be at the Target Center in Minneapolis, but all of us will be there in spirit. Let’s be part of a huge circle of Gamecock supporters, linked together, urging us to victory, matched by the best sportsmanship ever witnessed.

Congratulations go out to Coach Staley for winning multiple honors – the Naismith, U.S. Basketball Writers Association, and Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Coach of the Year awards – and to forward Aliyah Boston, who was named the Naismith Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, as well as Player of the Year from the Associated Press and the WBCA. Well-deserved accolades! Of course, all the players are premier student-athletes, and the entire coaching staff is superb.

Many of our Alumni Clubs are hosting watch parties all over the country this weekend. You can find a club near you and check out their social media channels for the latest watch party details. And for those watching from Columbia, there is a special benefit … you’ll be the first to see Capstone lit up with its garnet crown … the crown of champions.

So, wear your garnet and black, post your support on social media, and be sure to say it loud and proud: GO GAMECOCKS!
